Anthony Edward Horosko 1926 – 2008 Canandaigua NY 82, Long time Victor resident passed away at FF Thompson Hospital on Wednesday June 18, 2008. The former Victor school administrator is survived by his wife Shirley (Jesse) Horosko, his seven children, fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Born in Throop, PA; after completing high school, Anthony enlisted in the Navy. He received his navel training in Ovid, NY. He was assigned as a radio operator on a destroyer during the end of WWII. After three years of service, he was honorably discharged. Tony went on to pursue a career in education, receiving his degree at Mansfield (PA) University. Shirley and Tony met while teaching at Greenwood, NY. The two were married on August 23, 1953, their family rapidly expanded; enjoying a house full of five girls and two boys. Completing his education through the Univ. of Rochester he moved from teaching to an administrative position. He was principal of the Victor Intermediate School. After working in education for nearly 30 years, Anthony retired in 1980. He was an avid outdoorsman. His love and respect for nature was nurtured at a young age by his involvement in scouting. Tony was very active; achieving Eagle Scout status and continuing as an adult counselor. He assisted with projects at Camp Cutler, and other area events. As an outdoorsman, Tony enjoyed years of hunting and fishing. He taught his family safety skills as well respect for nature. Hunting and fishing were a means to enjoy the outdoors, as well provided for his large family. Anthony had a great sense of humor that helped him deal with challenges of life, and kept those around him entertained. There was nothing like relating a humorous story out on the fishing boat or around a campfire; his family will be comforted by these happy memories. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM. July 29, 2008 at St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Victor NY.
