Obituary of Elizabeth Maio

Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Maio March 4, 1935-June 25, 2010 Canandaigua, NY Betty Maio died peacefully on Friday morning, June 25, 2010 in her room at Rochester General Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband, Rocco "Okie" Maio; children; Virginia (Robert) Clark and Anthony (Linda) Maio, grandchildren; Michael Maio, Steven Maio, Shaunna Bailey, Shannon (John) Coyne, and Allison Clark, and great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Ruth Coyne and Sara Katherine Coyne. Betty served for thirty-two years as a registered nurse, including several years as head nurse, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Canandaigua. She received her degree from the University Of Rochester School Of Nursing. In her retirement, Betty enjoyed traveling, spending time at Coco Beach, Florida, decorating cakes, cultivating flowers in her backyard, volunteering for the Election Board, NARFE and the United Church, reading, watching birds, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, June 30 at Fuller Funeral Home Inc., 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, July 1, at 11 am at the United Church of Canandaigua, 11 East Gibson Street, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Betty's memory to the United Church.
