Obituary of John Farrell

JOHN H. FARRELL, SR. SHORTSVILLE: John Farrell, 80, of Kyte Road died Monday, March 21, 2011 at Thompson Hospital. John was born in Canandaigua on October 20, 1930 to the late John R. and Jessie Johnson Farrell. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 34, Shortsville. John retired from Mobil Chemicals in 1992 after 27 years of service and was a member of Winged Pheasant Golf Club and had been active with Babe Ruth Baseball. He was a member of St. Dominic Church. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Clara Fish Farrell, Shortsville; his son John (Mary) Farrell, Jr.,Port Charlotte, FL; his stepchildren Lois Austin, St. Augustine, FL, Diane (James) D'Arduini, Palmyra, Laura (James) Peters, Williamson, Kathleen (Ronald) O'Brien, Canandaigua and Lynn (Michele) Fish, Shortsville; grandchildren Thomas Farrell, Michael Farrell, Robert D'Arduini, Jamie (Jason) Sonneville, Adrianne Peters, Steven O'Brien, Daniel O'Brien and Luke Fish; great grandchildren Ryan D'Arduini and Carter Sonneville; his brother James J. (Kathy) Farrell, Temple, TX; his sister Mary Jane Miles, Canandaigua and several nieces and nephews including Michele (Bob) Raeman, Bruce (Michele) Miles, Maureen (Scott) Melrose and Tim (Jill) Miles. He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley in 1977 and daughter Sherle Anne in 1970. Friends are invited to call at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. John's funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dominic Church, West Main St., Shortsville Monday morning at 10:00. Burial with military honors will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Manchester. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed to St. Dominic's Memorial Fund c/o St. Dominic Church, West Main St., Shortsville, NY 14548.
