Obituary of Donna Vorce

Donna Jean Chappell Kern Vorce born in Whitley County, Indiana September 17, 1932, passed away on August 20, 2011 in Canandaigua, NY, where she resided since July 9, 2000. She was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Chappell and Ruth M. Bills. Raised in Milton, PA, Donna graduated from Milton high school June 1950. She married Lewis A. Kern Sr., on December 23, 1950 in Milton and resided in Watsontown, PA. The couple moved to Massena, NY in 1953 and then to Norwood, NY in 1955 where they lived for 30 years. Lewis Sr., passed on July 9, 1982. Donna is survived by three sons, Tracy T. Kern, Victor, NY, married to Charlene Lang; Lewis A. Kern, Jr., Puyallup, WA, married to Cindy Benson; Brian H. Kern, Bluefield, WV; a daughter, Linda Anne Marriam, Romulus, NY, married to H. Michael Marriam; four grandchildren, Lewis A. Kern III, Alexis M. Kern, Shannon M. Marriam Liggett, Kellen Marriam; and a step grandchild, Claire Benson. The eldest of 13 siblings, Donna is survived by a brother, William H. Chappell; four sisters, Barbara Voris, Dorothy Woolsey, Jo Ann Griffin, Connie Brady; and a half brother, Thomas Chappell. She is predeceased by two sisters: Carolyn James and Patricia Harvey; and five brothers, A. James Chappell, Ronald Chappell, Terry Chappell, Robert Chappell and Thomas E. Chappell Jr. Donna married Glenford C. “Bud” Vorce on August 5, 1989 in Norwood and has a step daughter, Priscilla A. Vorce, Norwood. Bud died on July 12, 1999. She was an active member of the Norwood United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where Donna leaves many dear friends and fond memories. Donna loved people and easily formed many lasting relationships as she moved through life. She loved her family, friends, church, flowers and gardening. She was a homemaker most of her married life. Friends may call Tuesday, August 23 from 2-3:30 pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 3:30. Additional services will be held at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St. Milton, PA on Thursday August 25, from 6-7 pm with a 7pm funeral service to follow.
