Obituary of Charlotte McFadden

C. Ruth McFadden, Nee Kazlauski Loving; mother, grandmother, great grandmother Canandaigua NY Age 101, died Friday Nov. 7, 2008 at the Ontario County Health Facility, a resident for almost five years. She was born on Nov.6, 1907, in Lithuania, immigrating to the United States (Brooklyn, N.Y.) when still an infant. After marrying Charles S. McFadden, Jr. deceased since 1970, they raised their family during the great depression and World War II, while living in various Long Island locations. Mrs. McFadden’s indomitable spirit and strong work ethic prevailed throughout her life, but particularly from her dirt – poor childhood through the maturing of their fifth and last child. In 1969 the couple moved to Farmington, Mrs. McFadden’s last home before admittance to the Ontario County Health Facility in 2003. After her husband’s death in 1970, she lived alone for 33 years, with some family assistance, until the age of 96. She was a practical, frugal lady, yet so very thoughtful and generous with her extended family – a true family matriarch. You would not opt to be her card playing opponent, though. She is survived by her remaining family; Joan McFadden, Arcadia, California Florence (Alfred) Lellis, of Ft. Pierce, Florida Gerald (Maryann) McFadden Reynoldsburg, Ohio Thomas (Wendy) McFadden, E. Bloomfield, NY She is also survived 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is predeceased not only by her husband, but her son Charles R. McFadden (Jacqueline) a grandson, Colin Lellis and three great- grandchildren. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm., at the Fuller Funeral Home 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A funeral service will be held Thursday Nov. 13, at 10 am.
