Ethel V. Allen Of Horsham PA, most recently of Canandaigua NY October 6, 1925 - September 19, 2011. Ethel Viola Allen passed into her heavenly home on Monday, September 19, 201l. She was the youngest daughter of Edwin S. and Ida G. Smith of Cedar Hill Road in Horsham PA and lived all her married life on Davis Grove Road in Horsham with her husband of 65 years Douglas S. Allen. Last summer they moved to Canandaigua NY in order to be near the immediate family. Ethel was raised on the family farm and worked in manufacturing until her retirement. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and close friend to many. She enjoyed needlecraft, word puzzles, and game shows. A faithful Christian, she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher and choir member at her beloved church, Bethany Bible Fellowship Church in Hatfield PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, George, Wilmer, Clarence, Warren, Edward, Raymond, Stanley, and LeRoy (Bill) Smith; her sister Florence Stong; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She is survived by her Husband, Douglas S. Allen of Horsham PA, most recently of Canandaigua NY; Her Son Douglas W. Allen and wife Donna of Canandaigua NY; her Granddaughter Jennifer (Allen) Check and her husband Jonathan of Victor NY with daughters Hannah Grace and Rebekah; her Grandson Jonathan Allen and his wife Jessica of Salisbury NC with sons J.D. and Jairus; her Grandson Jared Allen and his wife Janelle of East Rochester NY with daughter Riley. She is also survived by her sisters Catherine Nelson of Biglerville PA and Marian Hofmann of Doylestown PA; her sister-in-law Elvira Smith of Montgomeryville PA; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and life-long friends. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 1st at the Bethany Bible Fellowship Church, 75 West Broad Street, Hatfield, PA 19440. Burial will precede the service at 10:00 am in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Horsham PA near the Chestnut Lane Entrance. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Church, at the above address.
