Howard R. Burgess Shortsville NY. Howard Burgess, 91, of Maple Ave. passed away peacefully Wednesday October 19, 2011 surrounded by his family. Howard served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the DAV and the Garoga-Sincerity Masonic Lodge. Howard owned and operated grocery stores in Oakes Corners and Shortsville for many years, later retiring from the GW Lisk Company. He loved family get together, poker games, and playing pool in his home that he built after his retirement. Howard is survived by daughters; Kathy and Carol, of Canandaigua, sons; Jim (Mary Lou), of Bloomfield, Jerry (Cheryl), of Dayton, NV, Mike (Betsey), of Georgia, Steve (Cris), of Rushville, 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, sisters; Mable Weimer, of Lyons, and Edna Vanderwall, of Ocala, Fla., brother; Robert (Shirley) , of Bath, sister-in-law; Ethel Burgess Chapin, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife; Dorothy (Hill) Burgess, sister; Florence, brothers; Charles, Harold, William, Ralph, and Paul. Friends are invited to call Sunday, October 23 from 1– 4 pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua, where a 4 pm funeral service will immediately follow.
