Obituary of Elizabeth Dean

Elizabeth Shipman Dean Canandaigua- Elizabeth Dean, age 94, passed away peacefully January 13, 2012 at Hospeace House in Naples, NY. She was born on December 20, 1917 in New Brunswick, N.J. and was the daughter of the late David Leroy and Mary Butterworth Shipman. Betty worked for the N.J. Bell Telephone Co. in a management capacity for 34 years. In 1981 she and her late husband, James E. Dean, retired to Hilton Head, S.C. Golfing was their passion and Betty work at the Heritage Classic golf tournament as a volunteer for 11 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island and sang in their choir. In 2004, Betty moved to Bristol, NY, enjoying her remaining years with her daughter and son-in-law, Carlyn and John Coe. She was a member of the United Church of Bristol. Elizabeth’s survivors include her daughter; Carlyn, son; Jim (Sara), four grandchildren; Susanne (Steve) Dyke, of Cleveland Heights, O.H., Elizabeth (Chris) Carotto, of Elizabethtown, P.A., Wendy (Kyle) Garcia, of Long Valley, N.J., David (Katrina) Coe, of Salem, A.L., 10 great-grandchildren; James, Joel, Drew, Erin, Ryan, Matthew, Maddelyn, Blaine, Sarah and John. Private services will be held in Hilton Head, S.C. Arrangements are under the care of Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. Canandaigua. Donations in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF.org, the National Autism Association, nationalautismassociation.org, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, michaeljfox.org
