Obituary of Barbara Shamp

Barbara Newell Snover Shamp Penn Yan- Barbara Shamp, 90, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, April 7, 2012. Barbara was born July 29, 1921 to Lester and Norma (Elliott) Newell in Columbia Crossroads, PA. She retired from Penn Yan School District after 27 years as an elementary teacher. She was an avid quilter and past president of the Lake to Lake Quilt Guild. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Snover) Christensen, of Penn Yan, Lisa (Patrick)(Shamp) Krossber, of Dundee; a son, Todd Snover; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Gwen Hayeslip, of Cranberry Township, PA; a brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Marge Newell, of Horseheads, NY. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, James Shamp. Per Barbara’s wishes a private burial will be held in Troy, PA, at her family’s convenience.
