Obituary of Emma Jean Gates

Emma "Jean" (Gates) Young CANANDAIGUA - Emma Jean Young, 80, passed and went on to be with the Lord on Sept. 29, 2012, with her family by her side, after a long illness. She had temprarily resided at Wayne County Nursing Home but her primary residence was on Seneca Drive in Canandaigua, where she had lived for over 25 years. Jean, as she preferred to be called, was born to the late Ira and Emma Negley on July 2, 1932, in Tarrentum, Pa. She was a loving mother to six children, Charles Young (Linda) of Walworth, Kenneth Young (Mary) of Canandaigua, Linda Rohrback (Steve) of Rushville, Keith Young of Canandaigua and Mark Young (Carlotta) of Canandaigua. Jean is also survived by her brother, Douglas Negley (MariAnne) of Rushville; sister, Arvillia Palmer of Ontario, N.Y.; and first husband, Charles Young of Canandaigua. Jean has nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Gates; and son, David Young in 1975. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home Inc., 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua. A 7 p.m. memorial service will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be on Saturday, October 6, at 9 a.m. in St. Theresa Cemetery, where she will rest with her son David. Contributions in Jean's memory may be made to CCIA Food Pantry, 120 N.
