Obituary of Roger Baker

ROGER L. BAKER BLOOMFIELD: Former Bloomfield resident, Roger Baker, 86, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home. A Jamestown native, Roger was born on Dec. 22, 1926 to the late Robert and Elinor Hills Baker. He was a graduate of Newark High School and Brockport State Teachers College. He served with the U.S. Army during WW-2. Roger began his 30 plus year teaching career in Warsaw, later teaching in Ripley and Irondequoit. He retired from the Rochester City School District in 1982. Roger was a member of the Bloomfield Post 970 American Legion, a 40 year member of the Bloomfield Lions Club, a member of the Bloomfield-Holcomb Chamber of Commerce and the NYS Retired Teachers Association. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Reid Baker of Clifton Springs; his children Linda (Rick) Rayburn, Bloomfield, Reid (Margie) Baker, Ft. Collins, CO, Karen Baker, Canandaigua and Cynthia (Jeff) Eddy, Middlesex; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; his sisters Mary Tremper, CA and Roberta Angel, OR along with several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held following visitation at 3 o'clock. Rev. Jeri Kober will officiate. Burial with military honors will be held in East Bloomfield Cemetery in the spring. It has been suggested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Salvation Army, 110 Saltonstall St., Canandaigua, NY 14424, Happy Tails Animal Shelter, 2976 County Rd. 48, Canandaigua, NY or the a local hospice facility.
