Peter & Barb,
I just wanted to extend to both of you my condolences in the loss of Tree. Anytime I see you both I always asked you about Tree because I knew her as a nurse and respected her very much.
Peter, today when I asked you about Tree and you told me that she was gone, my heart sunk. Had I known this had happened, I'd have been there to pay my respects to both of you. Of course when I looked it up online, I never made the connection in the newpaper because it didn't mention her age, relatives, or where she worked. When I came to this website, I didn't recognize her in the picture, so once I started digging, I found it.
Needless to say I missed it, I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm even sorrier for not being there to pay my respects to both of you at the time of Tree's passing.
Barb, in the event you weren't aware, I was messed up pretty bad in a motorcycle accident back in September. Needless to say I get messed up bad enough to where I never saw you or Ida at Thompson because I got sent straight to Strong. I haven't worked since the accident, and I'm just now learning how to walk again. There was a time when I couldn't even stand on my own two feet, and I finally got off of crutches three weeks ago. I also haven't been driving that long either.
Although I am making great progress, my own recovery is still uncertain, but when I get the chance to see you in person, I will extend my condolences to you then.
Again I feel very bad for both of you, and I'm sorry I wasn't there.

She was a force of nature.Talking to her patients (yes, her patients) her coworkers from ALL her careers, and her friends, they all said the same thing. She was the hardest worker they ever met, let you know IMMEDIATELY when you were out of line, loved nursing and was very good at it. We know how much she gave up at a time when it was so important to her to take care of our mom and I keep dwelling on that. I'm so sad that she enjoyed such a short time of a career she was born for, mad at how unfair life is. And then, I hear her voice, telling me to knock it off, push through it, it will be OK, and annoy the crap out of Barb. I can do that. And yes Pete, you're in that mix too!

People say there are no words to describe grief. But there are. So many kind and genuinely sad words have been expressed to myself and my family over the past week and I cannot thank everyone enough for letting us know how truly special they knew Trecia was and how much she will be missed. When my mom was sick Trecia was there not only for her, but for the rest of my family. She kept us sane and always managed to help us laugh and realize how wonderful a woman my mom was and that she did an incredible job raising 7 smart, kind, independent, generous, funny, responsible children. I take comfort in knowing that Trecia is with her now. Probably laughing at all of us and talking about how blessed we are to have remained close our whole lives. We really do love and lean on each other. Trecia's illness also enabled us to value the bond that only siblings have. There's something about being with your brothers and sisters that helps you see how fortunate we are to come from a big family. I will miss her so much it creates a physical pain in my heart. But I know she is with me always. She's with all of us. ❤️️

My sympathies to the entire family. My daughter, Chelsea, has been welcomed into your family for the last 5 years and I hear such great stories about most of you, but particularly about Corbyn's mom and his aunt. Barb, you and I have met briefly and my heart goes out to you now. I lost my brother a year ago, we were close and I miss him so much. Even that relationship may not compare to two sisters that seemed as close as the two of you. It seems very cliche, but the happy memories in your heart will help during the rough moments. Fondly, Cathy Benjamin

Barb, Peter, and family, so sorry to hear of your loss. When I hired Tree as a new grad, I was not really sure what I had gotten myself into! She became such a bright light, her sassy self and fierce advocacy for her patients led me to love and admire her. Her strength, and yours, though the past several years have been inspiring. Carry her with you always, and God bless and keep you on this journey.

The night sky will forever have a camp fire with Peter and Tree enjoying each other after a great dinner.. they're favorite thing to do. She will be greatly missed as she was such a character and inspiration..from that Brooklyn accent to jumping out of a plane to getting her nursing degree in her fifties. She fought long and hard her whole life! Dear Barb thank you so much for being by her side at all times and all that you have done for Peter! Peter once again you have shown so much love and patience, you are an amazing man..we all love you so much!!

Barb (and family), I have a quote hanging in my living room that I love and wanted to share with you ... "To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Tree Otero certainly succeeded. She was one of the hardest working individuals and one of the most caring and passionate. I am so grateful to have known her. I had the pleasure of first meeting Tree and working with her when she was a tech in the ED ... I worked with her when I was a tech and when I was a nurse and I was always so happy to see her working because I knew right away it would be a smoother shift when we got to work together. I am grateful to have remained in touch with Tree after working together ... It was always nice to see her and catch up. She always truly wanted the best for her family, her friends, and her patients. Her smile, energy, selflesness and drive will certainly be missed but will never be forgotten. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

There is something to be said for always knowing where a person stands... how a person feels. There was never any question with Tree. She had that "no fluff, I tells yuh like I sees it" kind of way about her that was so rare and so endearing. And she made the best white chili I've ever tasted! I can still hear her laugh. We had some great times when we worked together. I feel lucky to have known her. She didn't always have it easy in life, but she was a fighter, and always made the best of any situation. I was so proud when she began working at the hospital. She was able to help a lot of people in her life. I will miss you, Tree. Thanks for being my friend. My best to your family. XO
