Luke passed away in St. Petersburg, Florida after a long hospitalization battling complications of Cystic Fibrosis.  He was a resident of Naples, New York and Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

   

Luke was born on December 7, 1969 in Penn Yan, NY. After graduating from Canandaigua Academy he made his home on the High Tor outside of Naples, NY, and he   wintered in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.  He worked as a sawyer, carpenter, organic farmer and vendor of produce.  Luke was a member of “Sons of the American Legion”, “Loyal Order of the Moose”, and ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education). 

 

Luke was predeceased by his sister, Karla Dekouski Moreau (Canandaigua), stepfather Kevin L. Heckman, grandparents Ray and Roma Dekouski ( Middlesex, NY),  Paul Jaynes (Ithaca, NY) and Doris Jaynes (Penn Yan, NY); aunt Adele Dekouski (Middlesex, NY) and uncle, Karl Jaynes (Newark, NY) and his beloved dog, “Jessie”.

 

Luke is survived by his mother, Patricia Jaynes Heckman (Canandaigua), and his father, Terry (Deb) Dekouski ( Canandaigua and St. Petersburg, FL);  sister Kelly Struble, nephew Tyler Struble, niece Paige Struble, and great-niece, Mia ( Canandaigua); step siblings, Eric Heckman (St. Louis, MO) and Natalie Heckman Scott (Chicago, IL); aunts Janet Read and Sharon Jaynes (Canandaigua) and Devereaux (Richard) Russell (Penn Yan); uncles Rev. Ronald (Colleen) Jaynes ( Lancaster, PA) and Charles Jaynes (St. Petersburg, FL) and several cousins. 

 

 

Known as “Luke Duke” by his many wonderful friends, Luke will be remembered for his outrageous sense of humor, his love and loyalty to his friends and his insistence on living every day in a big way.  His passions were many, especially fishing, golfing, cooking, Native American art, “Grateful Dead” music and riding his Harley.

 

A time of gathering of friends and family will be held at Fuller Funeral Home (190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, NY 14424) on Saturday, August 25th at 10 a.m.  A memorial service will follow at 11a.m.  A private committal service will then be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canandaigua. 

 

All friends and family are invited to a “Celebration of Life” for Luke throughout the afternoon at the American Legion Post #256, 454 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY.
