Obituary of Dee Valvano

 Dee Valvano age, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was born and raised in Canandaigua, New York, the daughter of Joseph and Philomena Evangelista. Dee was a graduate of SUNY Geneseo. She taught kindergarten for 30 years with the Canandaigua City School District and is fondly remembered by former students far and wide. Devoted to her family, church and the Canandaigua community, Dee enriched the lives of many. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, lending her talents at the piano for church services and the children’s choir, and was a member of the bell choir. Dee also volunteered for the St. Vincent De Paul Society, and was active in several clubs and groups, including the 6:45 Daily Mass Group, Martha’s Servers, her Bridge Club, Book Club and Quilting Group. Dee is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Vincent Valvano, the two of whom have had a profound impact on their community in so many ways. She also leaves behind her sons Vincent (Karin), Thomas, and Andrew, and daughter Joy (Wayne), grandchildren Dani, Isabel and Morgan, brother Frank Evangelista, sister Mary Pastore, sister-in-law Mary Clement, and many nieces and nephews, and is predeceased by brother Donald (Elaine) Evangelista.

Arrangements are by Fuller Funeral Home. No calling hours are scheduled. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, August 1st at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 95 N. Main Street, Canandaigua, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary’s School in Canandaigua, the American Lung Association or a charity of one’s choice.
