Obituary of Mary P. Failla

Mary P. Failla

Mary Patricia Failla was born on December 30, 1921 to Antonina (Acsiutto) Failla and Stefano Failla in Canandaigua NY. She was one of eight children and was a lifelong resident of Canandaigua.

She was predeceased by her parents, Antonina and Stefano, her brothers George (Ignatzio) Failla and his wife Anna, Tony (Illuminato) Failla and his wife Pink (Mary Alice), Nate (Natale) Failla and his wife Nancy, Sam (Salvatore) Failla, her sisters Pam (Palma) Failla, Fran (Frances) Failla and brother in law Frank (Francis) Robb.

She is survived her sister, Helena (Antonina)Robb and her sister in law Edwina Failla of Rochester.  Ten nieces and nephews and their families, many great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews also survive her.  We were all the children she never had. We were her family and she loved each and every one of us in her very special way.

Mary spent her life devoted to her family.  She took care of her father at home when he became ill, her mother in the nursing home for years and both of her sisters when they became ill.

During WW II she worked at Kodak making machine parts for the military.  She was a hostess at the USO Club where her love for dancing enriched her life and those of the soldiers who were going off to battle.

Later in life she got a job at Schlegel Systems Inc. with her brother Sam, and retired after many years of exceptional service.

The last years of her life were spent in the Maplewood Nursing Home in Webster after a very serious illness.  We would all like to thank the wonderful and loving staff at Maplewood for their compassionate and professional care for Aunt Mary.

A member of St. Mary’s parish, she was a devote catholic, and donations can be made to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Canandaigua or the charity of your choice, in her memory.
