Richard H. Papenfuss
Richard H. Papenfuss spent the summers on the east side of Canandaigua Lake and the winters down state in Westchester County. Dick passed away peacefully gazing out over the lake early Tuesday morning, November 13, 2018.
Born June 14, 1930 in Rochester, NY to Hermann and Clara Papenfuss. Dick spent every summer at Canandaigua Lake. After graduating high-school he attended RPI in Troy, NY where upon graduation he went to work for Olin Corporation as a chemical engineer. Dick’s career at Olin Corporation took him to several different states as a facilities manager and progressed to the corporate office in Stamford, CT.
Dick’s second career turned out to be as a concessions entrepreneur for the town of Wilton’s sports and recreation programs along with supplying the Westchester County horse circuit with his food trucks. He was the original founder and president of the Wilton Lacrosse Association for the town to support the youth lacrosse program.
Dick was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth Reinhardt and his second wife Ruth Giancola. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his four sons, Rick (Karla) Papenfuss, David (Kim) Papenfuss, Bob (Kelly) Papenfuss and Ben (Jennifer) Giancola; grandchildren Lindsay (Dan) Carey, Rebekah Papenfuss, Erika Papenfuss, Matthew Papenfuss and Camille Giancola; his great grandson Reilly Carey; his step-children Dianne Costello and husband David Talbert, David (Kathy) Costello and Philip (Laura) Costello; his step-grandchildren, Emily Myerscough, and Rhea (Nathan) Shipley, Lisa (Kevin) Coffey and Daniel (Joanna) Costello and step-great grandchildren James Shipley and Kate Costello.
A funeral Service will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424 at 10:00 am. Calling hours will be from 9:15 to 10:00 am prior to the service. Interment will follow at White Haven Cemetery.
