Obituary of Alice May Calhoun

 

Alice Calhoun, 89, of Winchester, NH, formerly a long-standing resident of Canandaigua, NY, passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2019, with her family by her side at Applewood Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided for the past three years.

She was born on February 26th, 1929 in Canandaigua, NY, to Albert and Beulah Walker. Alice was married to Warner “Putt” Calhoun on June 5th, 1948, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together.

She had a love for life, and she was always ready for a new adventure. Alice enjoyed reading, cooking, watching birds, and listening to country music. She was well known for her beautiful flower gardens, and she was always ready to share her knowledge of flowers.  She spent her younger years as a homemaker, and later worked at Mobil Chemical, where she retired after 35 years of service.

She is survived by her son, David Calhoun, and his wife Shirley; her grandchildren Bill (Holly) Calhoun and Emily (Rob) Mitchell; and her nine great-grandchildren, who were very special in her life- Jed, Olivia, Ryland, Nathan, Molly, Jack, Aubrey, Elyza and Elsie. She is also survived by her brothers Chuck Walker and Steve (Sue) Walker, and several nieces and nephews.

Alice was predeceased by her parents, her husband, “Putt”, her brother, Jim Walker, and her sisters, Helen Krossber and June Murphy. 

Friends may call Thursday, February 7th, from 5pm-8pm at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua, NY.  An 11:00am funeral service will be held on Friday, February 8th at the funeral home, followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
