John was a neighbor of the Historical Society for as long as it has existed and he exemplified the best of what the word "Neighbor" has stood for.
Any request for help, advice, or even partnership was never turned down. Always generous, accommodating and supportive of not only the Historical Society but the community at large.
As a historical figure in the story of South Bristol he will be a dominating person of this period that we are now living in when the time comes to look back on this era.

We are so sorry for your loss. John would always give us a warm smile and a handshake whether we were enjoying an evening at Brew and Brats or tasting wine at an event like the spaghetti dinner at the Cheshire Fire Hall. We recently had the pleasure of trying one of those famous steak dinners he grilled. We recall the great conversations we had about the solar panels and his purple car. He truly enjoyed life and was a kind soul. John will truly be missed.

I met John in 1999. I was just in the planning stages to start Deer Run Winery. I asked to speak with him to pick his brain about how I should get started. He was very gracious, while we toured his winery, answering my many questions. He was very helpful then and in the coming years as I would seek help with winemaking, grape growing tips, and making sense out of all the State and Federal requirements for reports. We would yearly compare how our grapes were doing.
He was a great man, mentor and friend. I will greatly miss him and his pleasant demeaner.
I pray that his family be comforted in this difficult time and that his Memory be Eternal.

Weather in the store or Brews and Brats John would always speak to myself and friends. He made us feel at home and had created an environment that was very comfortable. The people that he hired were on board with Johns vision of his place, a testament to John himself. I am sadden to Hear of this Worlds loss of such a man, and I extend to all of his family my deepest sympathies.

I never met John, other than through a brief conversation over the phone. I had bought a grape pie from the company store online. Shortly thereafter I received a notice that I had won a drawing for $100.00 in products. I phoned to thank whoever answered. John answered and seemed genuinely happy that a new customer had an opportunity to try a sampling of their products. I could tell by his attitude that he was a person I would love to meet. I am a nearly 89 year old retired minister so I have met some fine (and some not so) people in my life. And I consider John among those fine ones. About the products I had one -- we were having a family Thanksgiving dinner at our home so I was able to introduce a number of people to the wonderful products of Arbor Hill. It was a joy to talk to John.

I met John when we were freshmen at Cornell, College of Agriculture. We kept in contact ever since. He went from a good student to an outstanding businessman and friend to many. My greatest admiration was when we got together at age 70 and he had started a new venture - the Beer and Brats restaurant. He was always thinking future. What a guy! Nate Herendeen

Thank you, John Brahm, for always welcoming me into your family. From the time I was 12 years old to the ripe old age of 50, I’ve always felt like a part of the family. I will never forget the days of labeling wine bottles and syrups in the basement of the garage. Sherry and I have so many wonderful childhood memories, even when we were “working”, we were having fun. Sherry adored her dad and with good reason. You were a kind, gentle, hard-working man and I am so lucky to have known you for so many years. Until we meet again, you will always live on in my deepest memories.
