Obituary of Zelma E. Batzel

Zelma Eileen (Morris) Batzel age 88 of Canandaigua, NY, passed away on April 8th  2019 at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic Nursing Home.

Calling hours will be held at Fuller Funeral Home Buffalo St, Canandaigua, NY on Friday April 26th from 6-8 pm. A celebration of life will be held at the Canandaigua Moose Lodge, 305 Ontario St. Ext. on Monday April 29th at 6 pm.

Zelma was born in Ithaca, NY to Harold Morris and Florence Dunn on January 16, 1931.  She went to high school in Middlesex, NY and then graduated from Rochester Business Institute.  She married the love of her life Kenny Batzel  September 16, 1949. She was well known in Canandaigua for her waitressing skills; most of her work years spent at the Office restaurant. She was proud to be the only waitress to have worked for every owner of the Office since its start; lastly when it became Eric’s office and retiring at the age of 78. She was known for treating every customer as a VIP and friend. Kenny and Zelma enjoyed their special group of friends, snowmobiling, traveling, dancing and listening to country music.

Zelma is survived by her daughter Darlene (John) Welsh, son Kevin (Brenda) Batzel, grandchildren Kristy (Shawn) Merriman, Jeremy (Kelly) DePew, Lee (Tammy) DePew and Hilary Batzel. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Dylan Merriman, Mackenzie, Madison and Mason DePew, Emma and Jack DePew. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenny Batzel (2015) and sister Shirley Schooler (2019).
