Beth Trevvett

Obituary of Beth Gottlieb Trevvett

Beth Gottlieb Trevvett, age 62, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2020. Beth is survived by her loving husband, Edward Trevvett, and their two caring children, Meaghan and Jeremy Trevvett. Born in Manhattan, Beth was the daughter of Robert and Roberta Gottlieb. She was predeceased by both parents and is survived by her sister, Dr. Ellen Gottlieb, and brother, David Gottlieb. At age 25, Beth was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She survived her first battle with cancer and became an active life-long supporter in the cancer community — raising awareness, leading fundraisers, advocating for research and new treatments, and providing support and care to others fighting their own battles. Nearly two decades after her first bout with cancer, Beth was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She beat the odds once again, making her a two-time survivor. Her efforts in the community heightened, dedicating a significant portion of her life to helping those affected by various forms of cancer through her charitable acts and endless compassion. Beth served on the Board of Directors of the New York State and Ontario County chapters of the American Cancer Society, organized multiple Relay For Life events, and ran support groups for cancer patients, survivors, and accompanying family members. After 18 years in remission, Beth entered her third campaign, this time with an aggressive form of cancer that metastasized to her bones, glands, and skin. A fighter until the end, Beth passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the age of 62. Beth earned a B.A. from Dickinson College, where she was also a Resident Advisor, and a Master's in Education from Bowling Green State University. Before she experienced disabling health conditions she battled throughout her life, Beth was a tremendously hardworking and successful professional, having worked as the Assistant Director of Career Services at Monroe Community College and the Director of Career Services at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. While Beth's health sidelined her career, true to her ever-positive nature, she did not lament her fate, but rather saw it as an opportunity to focus on being a devoted mother and wife. Beth enjoyed crafting, solving word puzzles, cross stitching, and traveling. She is remembered as one of the kindest, most positive, and selfless persons anyone ever met, and always had a smile adorning her face. Beth never missed an opportunity to touch the lives of those around her and believed in "living every day to the fullest." Her memory will be carried on in the acts of kindness and service of those around her. Beth's dedication to and love for her family was the centerpiece of her life. One of her last adventures was a sailing excursion on Canandaigua Lake that she and Ed took on their anniversary, August 1st, during which Beth even piloted the sailboat! Other highlights with her family included a vacation to Aruba, a trip to Switzerland with Jeremy, and the college tour she took with Meaghan, with side trips to Ben and Jerry's and the Vermont Teddy Bear Company. We welcome you to commemorate Beth's life with calling hours that will take place at the Fuller Funeral Home (190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424) on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
