Karen Turner

Obituary of Karen J. Turner

Karen Turner, survived by wife, Paula DeLapa of 33 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Dolores Turner; mother in law, Jean (Tony) DeLapa; and her paternal and maternal grandparents. Karen was also survived by her sister, Nancy Turner; niece, Nicole (Gina) Lovullo; niece, Tiffany (Damon) Ottnod; nephew, C.J. Ottnod; great niece, Jayla Cartagena; great niece, Valentina DeFazio; 3 other siblings and many other relatives and dear friends. Karen worked for Wegmans where she was a deeply dedicated employee for 23 years. She worked in the positions of seafood specialist and managers of many fish and bakery departments. While there she received many promotions and awards for her diligent and hard work. Karen was a member of the Canandaigua Country Club. There she and Paula shared so many good times and tequila and orange juices and martinis with the many good members there. A special note to managers Kim and Kristen and Daena at the bar, she shared many good laughs and for sure put many smiles on the faces of the members there especially during euchre time. She was especially dedicated to her sister (sisi) Nancy and shared a lifetime of deep love and friendship. Karen was considered a "second mother" to her nieces Nicole and Tiffany and nephew CJ, whom she had deep affection and dedication to their lives and wellbeing. A special note regarding her nieces Nicole and Tiffany, and nephew CJ. Nicole, her first born niece, and Karen shared a love for Lady Gaga and traveled to see her in concert twice. They spent a lot of time together going to many of the events and many other things. CJ was her camping buddy, who spent a lot of time camping and fishing in the Thousand Islands and many other places. Tiffany also spent much time with Karen enjoying all the many outdoor activities and time as an aunt, a confidant, and mentor and friend. She did everything possible for all of them to succeed in life. Then came her great niece Jayla. She as "Aunt K" spent many hours with Jayla and one could say they were "attached at the hip". Jayla gave her so much joy to the point that Paula thought her presence is Karen's time on earth was extended, more than was ever expected, directly because of Jayla whom she shared the best of times. Then there is her latest great niece, Valentina appx 22 months old, whom she was just beginning to enjoy her special smiles and ways. Karen was dedicated to her like the others with deep love and affection. Karen was especially close and loved by Paula's mother Jean. She would often describe her as her second mother and Paula felt the same about Karen's parents. Karen was also kind and dedicated not only to her family here and afar, but also to complete strangers, doing things like paying for complete strangers groceries when standing in line when they were short or spending time with a deceased employee's mother in a nursing home because the employee was her only son. Lastly there is Paula her wife with whom she shared 33 years of pure joy. They did everything with each other from the day they met. Karen treated Paula like fine china. Paula and Karen shared a lifetime of love and fairy tale romance. There was nothing left unsaid to express their dedication and deep love for each other. Paula will have eternal sadness but will be at peace knowing that Karen is still alive and available just now from the Heaven above. She is now at peace and joy with our parents. The lights on earth are dimmer now as per the void of her loss, but for sure her presence now is lighting up the heavens for all. Instead of flowers the following places can receive donations.
