Obituary of Charles R. Maney

Charles R. Maney Canandaigua- Charles Maney, 98, passed away on October 6, 2021. He is survived by his wife Claire Maney, daughter Patricia (Gary) Woodard, sister Nancy Long, step children Richard and Sandy Monahan, Michael Monahan, Kathy Palmer, Colleen (Wayne) Smith, Mary Ellen (Don) Kenny, Barbara (Tim) Spenner, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Ethel, brothers Thomas and Robert, and sisters Marion, and Grace, his first wife Rita Menihan, and son Charles(Rick) Maney Jr. Charles was a World War II veteran. He served as Master Sgt. in the Army from 1942 to 1946 and served in active combat-in New Guinea, Leyte Gulf, and Manila, Philippines. He earned two Bronze Stars for valor, Sharp Shooter gas mask instruction awards, and several smaller awards. Following his service he worked as a paralegal for Nationwide Insurance Company for 43 years. After he retired, he worked as a private investigator for Security and Confidential Services. He also volunteered for 10 years as a firefighter in Gates-Chili and served as a volunteer at Sonnenberg Gardens. An 11am memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, October 13, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St. Canandaigua. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
