She was an extremely accomplished seamstress, and made many of her own clothes, including her wedding gown. After graduation, she worked for US Steel in Pittsburgh, until her marriage to Joe on July 10, 1954. They moved to Canandaigua (Joe’s hometown) in 1959, and completed building their own home there in 1966, where they raised their four children, and many beagles. Eileen’s parents were very devout Roman Catholics, and instilled in their children a love and devotion to God. Catholicism continued to be an extremely important aspect throughout Eileen’s entire life. She attended mass at St Mary’s Church in Canandaigua regularly and often. She raised her children with the same religious values that she believed. They all attended St. Mary’s Parochial School. Her faith was very evident in her daily life. Eileen was a very kind, caring, generous, yet soft spoken person. She opened her heart and her home, often serving meals to friends that would drop by unexpectedly for a visit. Eileen was very generous with both her time and her money, donating money to many charities, both local and international. Eileen loved caring for her many flowers. She also spent much time in the vegetable garden. Her family enjoyed vegetables, fruits, and jams throughout the year thanks to her time and efforts spent during the growing season.
