Bilge Buckmann

Shortsville, NY- Bilge Buckmann passed away peacefully at the Pines of Peace in Ontario, NY on August 15, 2022, at the age of 75.

She is survived by her loving husband William Buckmann, sister Ege Okudurlar, nephew Gokhan (Aylin) Okudurlar, niece Goknur Okudurlar, cousin Yildirim Yakar, sister in-law's Rosemary (Denny) Backus, Sandy and their families.

Bilge was predeceased by her loving parents: mother Makbule Akar, and father Sevket Akar.

Bilge was born in Karsiyaka, Izmir Turkey, January 5th, 1947 on a street called Aksoy Mahlesi. She lived in Alaybey, Karsiyaka. She attended Yamanlar College Law School for 1 year. Bilge met Bill on a blind date while Bill was stationed in Turkey. They fell in love and married on January 10, 1970.

She worked in retail and at the Clifton Springs Hospital.

Bilge will be remembered as a kind, cheerful, gentle woman who loved her family and friends. Her cousin, Yildirim Yakar was greatly inspired to pursue higher education because of her encouraging attitude. Bilge enjoyed supporting charities, especially those that helped animals. She loved hosting New Year's Eve parties with arrays of food for friends and family. Bilge was a wonderful host and cook. She left everyone with very fond memories.

Friends and family may call Monday, August 22, from 5-7 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. An 11 AM graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 23 at Woodlawn Cemetery.
