Obituary of Cecilia V. Bell

Cecilia Bell, 95, passed peacefully at home in Canandaigua on Monday, September 12, 2022. Cecilia was predeceased by her husband Gerald Bell, sisters; Claire Bardo, Gertrude Fox; brother, Thomas Ryan. Cecilia is survived by her children; Monica (Thomas) Yurik, Kathleen Bell, Bruce (Cathleen) Bell, Brian (Renee) Bell; grandchildren; Jason Haidar, Beth (Dave) Illes, Nicole Bell, Emily Bell; greatgrandchildren; Declan Illes, Jacob Illes; devoted niece, Patricia (Alan) Merklinger; several great nephews and nieces. Cecilia (Cis) was born in Guttenberg, NJ to Earl and Margaret Fagan. In 1930 she moved with her family to Naples, NY and a decade later to Canandaigua, NY. She talked enthusiastically about her love for school and learning. Cis also enjoyed singing with her sister Claire and in the choir. Canandaigua remained Cis's home. As a young woman, she enjoyed dancing and attending local softball games where she met her beloved Gerald (Jerry). Their marriage in 1950 brought 4 children and 51 years of joy together until his passing in 2001. Cis's career was in her home, where she excelled. Cis provided love, compassion, and great homemade meals to her family. She also loved animals and had a soft spot for cats. During her lifetime, Cis enjoyed attending mass at St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua, reading, walking, swimming, and traveling. As she slowed down, crossword puzzles became a passion. Cis enjoyed time with close friends and especially loved being with her family. She was a humble woman who did not seek attention. Others were drawn to her kindness and sweet nature. She will be missed but remembered with love. All family and friends are invited to a memorial service at the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel, located at 130 North Pearl Street, Canandaigua, NY, on Friday, September 30th at 10:00 am.
