Marjorie J. Miller "Gonnie"

Shortsville- Marge Miller passed unexpectedly, but peacefully at her home of over 75 years on Booth Street in Shortsville, NY.

She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Ronald (Kathy) Miller of Williamsville, NY, and Donald "Oogie" (Anne) Miller of Shortsville, NY.

Gonnie leaves five grandchildren, Julie (E.J.) Fagner, Wendy (Doug) Willliams, Phillip Miller, Kristie "K.K." (Mark) Thompson, and Christopher "Chip" (Crystal) Miller. Ten great-grandchildren, Kyle (Christina) Smith, Erika (Shawn) Ryan, Bryan Eharton, Jordan Glaisdorfer, Sierra Williams, Emma, Leah and William Thompson, Shayne and Cayden Miller; eight great great-grandchildren, Luke, Kendall, Paisley and Cole Ryan, Hunter, Sophia, Kennedy and Blake Smith; brother, Clayton "Bob" (Mary) Ruggles.

Along with over four generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends who she dearly loved. She was also blessed with her earthly angels, Lorrie and Jason Whipple and Toni Ross.

Marge was predeceased by the love of her life, Donald (1999); granddaughter, Michelle Marie Miller (1973); Three siblings and their spouses, Dorothy (Bob) Bristol, Carl (Barbara) Ruggles, and Mary Esther (Jack) Smith.

Born in Shortsville on April 25, 1927, to Clayton and Mary (VanEtten) Ruggles. She attended Shortsville High School, not only excelling academically, but as a cheerleader, member of the chorus, played tuba in the high school championship band, and graduated with the class of 1944.

She began her working career in the 1950's with Sarah Coventry Jewelry Co, in Newark and later in Sodus, NY. She then began her over 30-year career in the 1960's with Ontario County. Beginning in the Office of Civil Defense, later transferring to the Motor Vehicle Department until her retirement in the 1990's as the Director of the DMV.

Becoming "empty nesters" in their late 30's, Marge and Don stayed close to home while enjoying bowling, golf, snowmobiling, and many community activities while watching their family grow. She was a life member of Turner Schrader Post 34.

A devout Christian, Marge played the organ in the 1950's for the Shortsville Methodist Church, later joining the Manchester Methodist Church where she deeply loved her church family, served on many committees, and in many church positions.

Her family and friends will lovingly remember the white trash caramel popcorn, homemade baked goods and candies, and last but not least, her "Orange stuff."

Friends may call Friday, October 7, from 4-7 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 10 AM funeral service will be held Saturday, October 8, at the Shortsville Presbyterian Church, 59 W. Main St, Shortsville. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery. A reception will follow at St. Dominic's Parish Center, 95 W. Main St. Shortsville.
