Obituary of Maurice Chacchia

Maurice Chacchia CANANDAIGUA- Maurice 'Maury ', 'Papa C’ Chacchia, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at FF Thompson Hospital. Maury was born on July 10, 1941, in Geneva, NY, son of the late Domenica Rosa (Mayme) and M. Maurice Chacchia, Ontario County District Attorney and Judge. A renowned interior designer, and owner of Catcheye Interiors for 47 years, Maury worked with many prominent Rochestarians, designed several Rochester Junior League Showcase homes, as well as the Genesee Valley Club and the Country Club of Rochester. He was one-of-a-kind and was highly regarded for his imagination, creativity, and ability to transform the mundane into the extraordinary. He was passionate about life and his life’s work. Maury loved his Victorian home of over 50 years located in the 19th Ward of Rochester, as well as his childhood summer cottage on Canandaigua Lake. He loved his family and friends deeply, enjoyed being social and giving sound advice to those who would listen. He was happiest when he was with his family, good friends or creating something beautiful. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Anne (Tredennick) Chacchia and four children; Marchello (Alexis) Chacchia, Deidre (William) Mapstone, Bartholomew (Tricia) Chacchia, Leandra (Joshua) Sweet; 13 grandchildren; and his brother, Victor (Judy) Chacchia of Carrollton, Texas; and many adoring cousins, nieces and nephews. Maury was predeceased by his brother Danny. Friends may call Saturday, October 29, from 2-4 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 4 PM memorial will follow at the funeral home.
