Obituary of Donald H. Cronise

Donald H. Cronise of Victor (former longtime resident of Greece) passed away at age 96 on January 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born August 11, 1926, in Rochester, NY. He was a 1944 graduate of Charlotte H.S., and a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps. Don worked at Eastman Kodak Co. for 39 years before his retirement in 1983. Don is survived by six children, Susan (Graham) Biddle, Richard (Rita) Cronise, William (Jeanne) Cronise, Delbert (Evelyn) Cronise, Carol Cronise Stash, Robert (Alexia) Cronise, and “adopted" children, Myat Lwin and Jeannie Khaw; his grandchildren Jonathan (Katie Ruberti) Cronise, Taryn (Dan Burchill) Cronise, Brian (Kara) Cronise, Daniel (Maryann Keene) Cronise, Justin (Christina Walsh) Cronise, Jordan (Hannah) Fernweh, Kaitlyn (Mitch Makowski) Cronise, Amelia (Jody Wegman) Stash, Gabriel Stash, Nolen Cronise, and Ellia Cronise; and his great grandchildren, Galen Keene-Cronise, Elliot Keene-Cronise, Anna Keene-Cronise, Isis Walsh-Cronise, Jesper Walsh-Cronise, Hailey Cronise, Madison Cronise, Brooke Cronise, Wilhelmina Fernweh, and Ethan Burchill; and all his amazing caregivers who have become family over the past 5 years including Steph, Denise, Alica, Celeste, Niki, Laura, Bri and Cassie. He is also survived by brother-in-law Paul Westgate, sisters-in-law Trudy Boas and Margaret Barber, and has many nieces, nephews, and their families throughout the country. Don is predeceased by his loving wife of 73 years Martha A. (Westgate) Cronise, parents Harold A. and Angela E. (Frank) Cronise, sister Doris McClellan, and grandchildren Greta and Peter Stash. Don enjoyed the outdoors as an avid gardener, growing both vegetables to feed the family, and tending numerous ornamental gardens at their home in Greece. He also devotedly assisted Marty with her second career as a program manager for Career Track, chauffeuring her across New York State to various event venues, as well as being Marty’s right-hand man with her duties in that job. In their retirement, Don and Marty enjoyed travelling throughout the U.S. and Canada. Don was an amazing 24-hour caregiver for Marty from 2006-2017, until his own health issues kept him from providing for her many needs. Calling hours will be Monday, January 16, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua, followed by graveside service and burial at Lakeview Cemetery of Canandaigua.
