Obituary of Shirley W. Carney

On Saturday, February 25, 2023 Shirley W. Carney passed away peacefully at FF Thompson Hospital at the age of 87. Shirley was predeceased by her husband John W Carney. Shirley was survived by her two nieces Monica (Peter) Sica and Sharmae Kemler. She was also survived by her adopted family, Eileen Barry, Carolyn (John) Chittenden, Cristin (Zach) DeVries and Colleen (Rob Trapp) Setter, and several other great nieces and nephews. Shirley was a Genesso native. She was the daughter of Albert and Jean (McKeown) Waide. She was a graduate of Genesso State Teachers College and retired in 1990 after 34 years as a Special Education teacher in Clifton Springs and East Bloomfield. Shirley was a member of the Alpha Tau Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma society, a member of the Bloomfield Central Retired Employees Associations and the Bloomfield Savage Post American Legion Auxiliary. Friends may call Tuesday, March 7, from 12-2 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 2 PM memorial service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the East Bloomfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Shirley to Quail Summit residential community where she has lived for the past four years.
