Obituary of David R. Stewart

David Roy Stewart of Canandaigua, NY passed away at age 81 on March 1, 2023 at FF Thompson Hospital. Calling hours will be held at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo Street Canandaigua, NY on Thursday March 9, 2023 from 4-8 pm. Funeral service will be held at Fuller Funeral Home on Friday March 10, 2023 at 11:00 am followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery 130 North Pearl Street Canandaigua, NY. Dave was born in East Liverpool, Ohio to Francis G. Stewart and Grace (Haley) Stewart on July 21, 1941. He went to Connellsville High School and graduated in 1959. Dave served in the army and was in Vietnam 1966-1967. Afterwards, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Buffalo, a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, and a Doctorate Degree in Counselor Education. Dave worked at Pennsylvania State University Main campus as Dorm Director for East and West halls, and then at Pennsylvania State University York campus as Dean of Students. Afterwards, Dave was Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management at Montgomery County Community College. After retirement, Dave and his wife Jackie moved to Canandaigua, NY in 2008. Dave was a Master Gardener and enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables which he shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed sports, golf and the family Fantasy Football league where he would research for months to try to pick the best players. Dave and Jackie enjoyed traveling around the US and abroad on many trips which Dave used his expert skills to plan. Another favorite of his was the yearly camping trip to Fish Creek in the Adirondacks with many family members occupying a row of sites next to each other. Dave is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Alessi) Stewart of 54 years and their three children: Karen (Tim) Neumann, Michael (Shelley) Stewart, Tami (Erik Goldberg) Stewart; his grandchildren, Michael Neumann, Nedelcho Neumann, Olivia Pituch, Cecilia Pituch, Isaac Pituch and Ben (Lu) Slattery-Goldberg. He is also survived by his sisters Carolee (Peter) Stewart-Gardiner, Gayle (Robert) George, and Mary Grace (John Anderson) Stewart and has many nieces, nephews and their families throughout the country.
