Patricia Gliewe

Obituary of Patricia Gliewe

Patricia Gliewe (Combs) passed away peacefully on March 10, 2023. She was the daughter of the late George and Florence Combs and sister to Arick (Deb) Combs. She was married to Albert Gliewe in 2003, who unfortunately passed away in September 2022. She so dearly loved her cats, Smokey and Tigger, and her dog Charlie. Other surviving relatives include her Aunt Rose (late Floyd) Brown, Uncle Kennet (Wendy) Combs, Uncle David (Jean) McNish, nephew Ben Combs and several cousins. Patricia spent a lot of time in her younger years with her cousins Sheila Thurston (Brown) and Michelle Peffers (Brown) and she always enjoyed the time spent with her lifelong friend, Michelle Martino. Patricia’s (Trish) story is one of perseverance. She battled diabetes early in life which eventually led to other health problems. Diagnosed with end stage kidney disease over 15 years ago, Trish endured dialysis and multiple health issues, eventually leading to amputation of her legs and other circulatory problems. Through all of this, she never lost her compassion for others, or her motivation to live life to the fullest and always with an upbeat positive attitude. Her motivation to overcome her life challenges are demonstrated by the following achievements: In her late 20’s, she visited her brother Arick in Virginia and on a whim, decided to go skydiving. She was able to achieve a lifelong goal of visiting Disneyworld in Florida. She travelled to Las Vegas and drove through California visiting San Francisco; seeing the Pacific Coast along Route 1; attending the Back Street Boys in concert in Vegas, visiting Death Valley, The Hoover Dam, and traveling along the Iconic Route 66. She has also spent time in Niagara Falls, Hershey Park, Virginia Beach, and New York City. The only dream vacation that she was not able to complete was a trip to the country of Wales where the Combs Family originated from. Trish always enjoyed the times spent camping with her family. Patricia worked several years in Nutritional Services at Thompson Health. She also was the store Manager many years for Finger Lakes Vacuum and Sewing Trish will be so dearly missed by those she leaves behind. All who knew her have seen her kind heart and generosity. If you had the opportunity to get to know her well, she would show her wonderful sense of humor. Trish would want us to remember her for these qualities and to encourage us to enjoy the life we have been given.
