Rosemary Ternisky

Obituary of Rosemary D. Ternisky

On June 16 Rosemary Ternisky, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was 92 years old. Rosemary was predeceased in 2021 by the love of her life, Peter Ternisky. They married October 13, 1962, and were married 59 years before he passed. They spent their married years in Shortsville, residing in a beautiful Victorian home they were both so proud of. Rosemary was a woman of many talents. She loved to sew, working professionally for years as a seamstress, creating custom window treatments in addition to sewing and altering dresses. Knitting and cooking were also her passions. Her grandchildren often referred to her as the "Soup Queen." And, if you were very lucky, you were gifted a pair of her hand-knit wool socks. Anyone who met Rosemary described her as sweet and kind. She truly was. There are not enough words to describe a life well lived for 92 years. Rosemary is survived by a daughter, Susan (John) Mintel of Farmington and a son, Paul (Dawna) Ternisky of South Glens Falls. She was the proud Grammie to Sarah (Will) Femec, Ben (Gigi Heusler) Mintel, Michael Mintel, and Nathan Ternisky. Two great-granddaughters also made her life complete, Nora Femec, and Sierra Heusler-Mintel. In addition to her husband, Peter, she was also predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Douglas Doyle. In accordance with Rosemary's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private family funeral will be celebrated, and burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Shortsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Loose Ends Project https://www.looseendsproject.org. Loose Ends matches volunteer finishers to handiwork projects left behind by crafters who have passed. These completed projects are returned to families as wonderful tributes and comforting memories.
