James F. McIlveen Obituary

Canandaigua- Retired Investigator, James (Jim) McIlveen, passed away on August 23, 2023.


Jim had a long history as a lawman, starting with the City of Canandaigua in 1958 until 1964. In 1958 Jim also worked as a Firefighter. His career then took him to the Sheriff's station in 1967. He was promoted to Criminal Investigator in 1971, where he served until his retirement in 1983.


After retirement Jim went to work at Hey's Construction (As we all know, he could not stand being idle).


Jim and Carol (Mickey) enjoyed many winters in Florida, before he became ill. He was also an expert in skeet shooting, and has won many competitions.


Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol (Mickey) McIlveen; son, Rick (Karen) McIlveen; daughter, Tracy (Dave) Richter, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Friends may call Wednesday, September 6 from 2-4 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 4 PM memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
