Rebecca DeBurgomaster

Obituary of Rebecca S. DeBurgomaster

Rebecca S. (Townsend) DeBurgomaster On July 23, 2023 Rebecca passed away suddenly when complications arose after an emergency visit to F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. She was 72 years old. In life Rebecca always took great pride in being a Registered Nurse. From her early years as an ICU nurse in Rochester to the V.A. Hospital in Canandaigua where she spent most of her career as a floor nurse, she always fought for what she believed was best for the patients. Towards the end of her career at the V.A. she became more than just a nurse. She became a teacher and counselor for the veterans through the Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted (MICA) unit. Nothing brought a smile to her face faster than seeing one of "her guys" making progress and doing well with their recovery. Now Rebecca has gone to join all those family members who have preceded her in death. Her father Erwin Townsend and mother Mabel Townsend. Her brother Jack Townsend and both her sisters Theodora Babcock and Linda Townsend. She is survived by her son Erik DeBurgomaster, several nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and great nephews. Per her wishes she was cremated without a formal ceremony. There will be a celebration of her life on September 16, 2023 at The Camp In The Woods, 3790 Lake to Lake Rd, Stanley, NY 14561, starting at 11 a.m. All are welcome to come share their stories about their times with Becky In lieu of flowers please consider sending a donation to the Rochester Veterans Center, 200 South Winton Rd, Bldg. 5 Sweet 201, Rochester, NY 14618.
