Obituary of Ronald D. Eckler
Ron Eckler, 75, lifelong resident of Bloomfield, passed away on November 13, 2023, at Conesus Lake Nursing Home.
Ron was born to the late Ben and Edna Eckler. He graduated from Bloomfield Central School, Class of 1966. Ron enjoyed music and was a member of The Shackman Band. He attended Clarkson University, leaving college one year shy of graduation to join the family milk hauling business, Eckler Trucking. Ron was an owner-operator of NAPA Auto Parts in Bloomfield prior to joining the truck and trailer business. He worked for many years selling Fruehauf trailers; Mack, Freightliner, and Kenworth trucks, retiring at age 64.
Ron enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, bird watching, and tending to his large vegetable garden. He was an avid hunter belonging to a hunting camp in Canada. Ron spent more than 30 years in the same bowling and golf leagues and made many friends along the way.
Along with his parents, Ron is predeceased by a daughter, Jessica Jo Oliver and sister, Eunie Thomas.
Ron is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandi; children, Rickey (Karen) Benham, Grey (Anna) Benham and Tracey (Bobby) Fuller; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters, Barb Hall and Joan Eckler; nieces, nephews, and best dog Dewar.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday December 3, 2023, from 2pm-4pm at the American Hotel of Lima, 7304 E. Main St., Lima, NY 14485. A private burial will be held in the spring of 2024.
