Obituary of Carolyn A. Lindner

Carolyn Ann Lindner (Burlew), born July 9, 1944 in Canandaigua, NY to Arthur and Lena Burlew, went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2023 after a strong and courageous fight against esophageal cancer. Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Tina Jaeger and Lori Thibodeau, both of Canandaigua. She was loved and adored by her six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Birchard (Andrew Birchard), Nicolette Karpie (William Karpie), Allen Thibodeau, and Michelle Thibodeau; 7 great grandchildren, Lennox, Conner, JoJo, Lucas, Liam, Ensley, and Wade; brother, Steven Burlew of Harrisburg PA, and sister in-law Bette Burlew of Rochester, NY; nieces and nephews, many friends and her precious daycare families. She is predeceased by her Parents; Arthur and Lena Burlew, and brother, Larry Burlew. Carolyn was a graduate of Red Jacket Central (High School) in Shortsville, NY. She attended Alfred State College studying interior design. Although she did not pursue interior design as a career, she took that passion and filled her home with decor for every season and every holiday. One of her favorite pastimes was going to craft shows with best friend of over 50 years, Karen Madera. It can easily be said they accumulated thousands of items over the years! Why they needed so many, well we just aren't sure! Carolyn has provided in-home day care for the majority of her career. She took a brief break and served as a Home Health Care provider for about 10 years. When she learned she was to be a Grandmother, she knew it was time to start up her own in-home daycare again in 1993. She has provided love and a nurturing environment to numerous families over the years. A retirement party was given for her years ago, although we were all mistaken that she could actually let go of her passion! She continued to care for children in her home right up to the day she went to the hospital and received the news of her illness at the age of 78. Her daycare families are a part of her. She didn't just care for them during the day while parents were at work, she cared for them as her own. She attended dance recitals, school plays, school concerts, sporting events, high school graduations, and yes, weddings! Carolyn has impacted so many lives with her compassion, her ability to listen and offer sound and sincere advice, and her giving heart to do anything she could for whoever was in need. Her other joys in life involved taking care of her plants, watching and feeding the hummingbirds, and her most enjoyable was to spend time with her family and to love and care for all those around her. Carolyn attended Crosswinds Wesleyan Church for many years, where she served in multiple leadership roles, including Director of Preschool, Small Group Leader, Divorce Care, and many more. Carolyn will be missed by so many. The impact she made on each and every life will carry them through as all begin to heal and navigate life without her earthly presence. A Memorial Service will be held at Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Rd. Canandaigua, NY on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 am. A light reception will follow after the service. At Carolyn's request there will not be calling hours. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn has requested donations be given to Lakeland Baptist Church. Donations can be mailed to: Lakeland Baptist Church, 24551 West Grand Avenue, P.O. Box 163, Lake Villa, Il 60046. Please write in the memo of the check "In Memory of Carolyn Lindner" Thank you.
