Steven Martin Smith, 48, of Canandaigua, NY passed away on December 27, 2023, after a three-year battle with Glioblastoma.

Steve was born on September 13, 1975, to Richard and Mary Jane Smith in Pittsburgh, PA. After Steve graduated from Yough High School in 1994, he went on to study Biology and play football at Hobart College. After graduating from Hobart in 1998 he went on to attend Veterinary School at Michigan State University.

Steve met Alexis while attending MSU and they married right after his graduation in 2002. His career started as a large animal practitioner while living in Michigan. He began small animal practice in 2005 after a move to the Finger Lakes Region of New York. They have four children, Paige, Maddox, Heidi, and Nola.

Steve had a way of brightening the lives of everyone he met. Whether he was your husband, father, brother, son, friend, or veterinarian, there is no doubt he left a lasting memory. Steve loved serving God in all these roles and will certainly continue to shine light on our lives.

Steve loved animals and enjoyed being outdoors, especially in the context of hunting or any number of other athletic endeavors. He was a skilled craftsman and built much of his family’s dream home with his own hands.

He is survived by his wife, Alexis: their children Paige, Maddox, Heidi and Nola; his parents Richard and Mary Jane Smith; his sister Christine (Joseph), his brother Kirk (Rebecca).

Friends may call Thursday, January 4, from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Rd. Canandaigua, NY 14424. A 1:00pm memorial service will follow at the church.
