Obituary of Jo Ann Stack

Jo Ann Kimble (Crouse) Stack Jo Ann Stack passed away after a sudden illness on December 30, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, surrounded by her loving family. Jo Ann is survived by her loving husband of 35 years Douglas Stack, her sons, Larry (Shawna) Crouse, Toby Crouse and Toby Crouse Jr. – her grandson she raised as her own son – her grandchildren Brayden & Makenna Crouse, all of Canandaigua, her Brother-In-Law William (Nancy) Stack of Vero Beach, Florida, many nieces and nephews and her canine companion, pitbull mix – Bazemore. She was predeceased by her parents Harold & Rebecca Kimble, her first husband Larry Crouse, sisters Dorothy Gage, Janet Wiley, and Catherine Schell. Jo Ann was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Canandaigua Academy. She continued her education at CCFL and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. She furthered her education earning her Master’s degree from Syracuse University in Social Work. She worked for the Canandaigua VA Hospital for 22 years as a Social Worker, retiring in 2006. One of Jo Ann’s passions was staying fit. If you didn’t see her walking 5 miles to Canandaigua Lake and back, you could find her taking a class at the YMCA or riding her bike with friends. Jo Ann loved traveling with her family, attending Brayden and Makenna’s sporting events, going to lunch with her girlfriends and taking special “girl” trips. She always put others first before herself and loved spending time with her family. At Jo Ann’s request there will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 95 North Main Street, Canandaigua, NY on January 5, 2024 at 11:00AM. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Ronald J. Schell Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Canandaigua Elks Lodge #1844, 19 Niagara Street, Canandaigua or the Canandaigua Wood Library at 134 North Main Street, Canandaigua.
