Anne T. Martin Obituary

Anne T. LaPalm Martin, 87, died peacefully at home on April 9, 2024 surrounded by family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Anne was born on April 2, 1937 to the late Dr. Leo and Hilda (Lane) LaPalm at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, NY, where her parents first met at work.

Anne was forever committed to faith, family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Justin "Jake" Martin, whom the Most Reverend Bishop James E. Kearney married to her in August 1960, as her father was his personal doctor. They had five daughters, Patty Carlson, Karen (Terry) Landcastle, Kathleen Draper, Eileen (Eben) Kennedy and Sheila (Clarke) Brown. Anne's family was her pride and joy! Since 1976, they lived on Tamberlane Farm of East Lake Road, Canandaigua, NY. Anne's love multiplied when she became the grandmother to 10 (Anders & Leif Carlson, Matthew (fiancé Shayna Pierce) Landcastle, Cassidy Draper, Emilyn & Ethan Kennedy, Hayley (fiancé Brent Oaks) Brown, Maddie (David) Wonder, Lane Brown, Chase (Amanda) Brown. Her last bundle of family joy arrived September 1, 2023 in her beloved great grandson, Henry Levi Brown (Chase & Amanda). She will be remembered as an exemplary daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, cousin, aunt and friend.

Anne's life was full of many friendships born out of her affiliations with her Seton Group and her Sacred Heart Academy and Nazareth College classmates. Her dedicated friends were too numerous to count and they relied on her attentive ear and life-sustaining prayers. In turn, Anne relied on her friends more than they knew. Her faith was an inspiration to many and her family teased her about having direct connections to Heaven when it came to prayer. She leaves behind a large legacy of love, celebration, strength and resilience.

Calling hours will be held Monday, April 15, from 4-7pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A funeral Mass for Anne will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 95 N. Main St. Canandaigua, on Tuesday, April 16 at 2:30pm. A graveside service will be held at Canandaigua Lakeview Cemetery, 4844 Jones Road, Rushville, on Wednesday, April 17 at 10am.

Donations in her memory may be made to Friends of Borgne, PO Box 486, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472 (https://friendsofborgnehaiti.org) which works to educate and feed Haitian children.

We ask Christ to carry her in His love as she now rests in His eternal peace, free from pain, and may her memory continue to bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
