Obituary of William E. Palmer

William E. Palmer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 27th, 2024, in Canandaigua, NY, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 10th, 1948, in Ithaca, NY, to his parents Ralph and Elizabeth Palmer (Hall). William, or Bill as he was affectionately known, was a man of great character and strength. He graduated from Candor High School in 1966 and immediately began his dedicated service to his country. He proudly served in the Marine Corps as a Combat Engineer from 1966-70, including a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967-68, showcasing his bravery and commitment to protecting his fellow Marines. After his military service, Bill pursued his passion for cars and worked in the automotive industry for over 40 years before his well-deserved retirement. His expertise and enthusiasm for all things automotive were truly unmatched. On January 2nd, 1971, Bill married the love of his life, Phyllis Jordan. Their union was a testament to love, devotion, and mutual respect. Together, they raised a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories. Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his children and their significant others, Scott and Amanda Palmer, AJ and Hope Palmer, Kara Palmer and Kevin Schneider, and his grandchildren Ethan, Henry, Gabriel, Sofia, and Jordan. His love for his family knew no bounds, and his legacy will live on through each and every one of them. In addition to his family, Bill was a proud member of the Marine Corps League and found great camaraderie and support within the organization. His commitment to serving others and his sense of duty were evident in all aspects of his life. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 30th, from 5-7pm at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo Street in Canandaigua. The funeral service will take place on Friday, May 31st, at 11 am at the funeral home in Canandaigua, followed by a burial at the NY Veteran's Cemetery (Sampson State Park) in Romulus, NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ontario/Yates County Hospice or the Marine Corps League Detachment 468 (https://mcl468.com) William E. Palmer will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered and cherished. May he rest in peace, knowing that he has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the honor of sharing in his life's journey.
