Obituary of Gloria K. Johnson

September 6, 1940 – August 26, 2024 Following a long struggle with illness, Gloria Kay (Smith) Johnson passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, with family at her side. Born on September 6, 1940, Gloria was a life long resident of Canandaigua until she moved close by to Farmington. Gloria married her husband Leon in 1959, they have been married for 65 years. Leon and Gloria raised four children; David, Guy, and Keith Johnson and Rochelle Horton. Once all her children were in school, Gloria wanted to work again so she took on the role of working in the Circulation Office for the Daily Messenger. Gloria became well known and loved in the community as she worked closely with all the paper boys and girls in the area. She was dedicated to her job, her co-workers, and her community, and admired by all she worked with. She remained in that position for 38 years. Gloria has 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Leah, Brandi, Tiffani and Karson, and 1 great grandson – Logan. She is predeceased by her loving son David and her loving grandson Jacob. Gloria is survived by her sister Carole Cooper. She is predeceased by her siblings Norma, Herman, Arlene, Roddie, Gordon, Nancy, and Michael. Gloria also has several nieces and nephews who she adored. Gloria will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her. A graveside service will be held at the families’ convenience.
