Obituary of Robert J. Coston
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert James (Coss) Coston, on October 16, 2024.
Robert, affectionately known as Bob, was born to James and Barbara (Collins) Coss on August 5, 1960, in Canandaigua NY. Bob grew up in Canandaigua and attended Marcus Whitman Schools. After leaving high school, Bob worked for many local farms, logging/forestry companies and construction/excavation companies. Eventually he found his home at Winged Pheasant Golf Links where he worked for many years. Bob was a dedicated, reliable and diligent worker all his life. His health declined in recent years and more significantly in recent months. Winged Pheasant colleagues showed Bob an abundance of compassion and empathy. We are so grateful, they walked the journey of life beside him, supporting him until the end.
Bob’s Aunt Sue and many of the aides & nurses (the Angels who became his caregivers and friends!) at Clifton Springs Nursing Home provided him with stability, comfort, and support.
Bob was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, kind and brave. We will all miss him.
Rest in Peace Bob, with God’s promise, we’ll meet again in Heaven!
Bob is survived by his Dad, adoptive father, Donnie Coston (Julie), his brother Greg Coston (Darby), his sister Darnel (Gary) Sampo. Nieces & nephews; Carter Coston, Clayton & Sarah Brown, Jacob & Chrissy Brown, Amber & Donald Noble and Joshua & Erin Brown. Aunts; Sue (Henry) Pentycofe, Barbara Coss, and Ruth (Earl) Outhouse. Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & Friends, both near and far, and the Winged Pheasant Family.
Waiting for Bob at the ‘Doors to Heaven’ were; His Mom & Stepfather, Barbara & Dan Hershey. His father, James Coss. His grandparents; Robert & Hazel Collins, Janna & Edna Coss and Alan & Shirley Coston. Many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.
To support others in their time of need and in lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Bob to the Clifton Springs Nursing Home, where he resided the last 3 years. Checks should be mailed to: Rochester Regional Health Foundations, In memory of Robert J. Coston, 330 Monroe Avenue, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607
