Obituary of Barbara E. Reddington
Canandaigua, NY - Barbara E. Reddington, formally of Prattsburgh, NY, passed away surrounded by family and friends on November 17th, 2024, at the age of 81.
She is predeceased by her husband, Dennis P. Reddington.
Survived by her children, Edward Reddington, Elizabeth Marino (late husband Sebastian), Jacquelyn E. Wilson ( LaSha), Christina Ellis- Reddington (Melissa), grandchildren, Mason S. Rivera, Brandon Wilson, Caleb Reddington, Brooke Slaughter and Elianette Rivera and great grandchildren, Daniella , Davian , D'Liyah, Anthony, Luella. Her brothers Michael Wixom (Leanna) and Richard Wixom (Vindora).
Born on June 24,1943 in Plymouth, Michigan Barbara and her siblings grew up on her parent's (Wayne and Imogene Wixom) beautiful farm. She graduated from Milford High School. She attended The Principia College in Elsam, Illinois and then transferred to Michigan State University and graduated with high honors with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in English and Minoring in Social Studies and French. She received her master's in education at Nazareth College, Rochester, NY. Barbara's love of teaching started with teaching for the Department of Defense in Japan, then she taught in Rochester, NY kindergarten and elementary children, which led her to starting a Pre-K program at Prattsburgh Central School. She dedicated her life to her family, teaching, and the Christian Science Church. She retired from teaching after 45+ years and was able to travel across the country with friends. She was a beautiful and generous person who loved to support family, friends, community and her church.
In lieu of flowers or funeral services, memorial contributions in Barbara's memory can be made to chILD (Children's Interstitial Lung Disease Foundation).
