Josephine Raimondo

Obituary of Josephine Anne Raimondo

On January 3, 2025, Josephine Anne (DeBlasio) Raimondo of Gorham, NY, quietly and peacefully left us to be with her beloved husband Eugene E. Raimondo. Josephine 'Josie' was born on July 28, 1936, in Oyster Bay, NY, to Italian immigrant parents Ralph and Livia (Lizza) DeBlasio. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and later made her home upstate in Rush, NY, with her husband Eugene 'Gene' and their children. Gene and Josie eventually settled in Bloomfield, NY, where they lived for over 30 years. Josie spent the majority of her career as an underwriter with the Chubb Corporation before retiring to care for Gene until his passing in 2004. Most recently, she lived with her daughter in Gorham, NY. Josie was a woman of tremendous faith who was fiercely dedicated to her family and always put others before herself. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; spending time with loved ones, her pets, gardening, reading (especially her bible), cooking and baking, and simply sharing her generous heart with others. She loved to entertain family and friends, enjoyed a good laugh, and had an engaging smile and a sparkle in her eyes. Her warm and loving manner made all who met her feel as if they had always known her, and she easily befriended so many of those she encountered. What brought Josie the most absolute joy was spending time with her precious great-grandchildren, Matilda and Everett, to whom she was 'GiGi'. Her heart was so very full when they were with her. She was looking forward with much excitement and anticipation to another great-grandson due to arrive in May. Josie is predeceased by her loving husband Eugene Raimondo, her parents Ralph and Livia DeBlasio, and her brothers Carl and John. She is survived by her children Maria Gasiewicz and Eugene (Deborah) Sisto, her grandchildren Rachel (Aaron) Pijanowski, Adam (Kathryn) Gasiewicz, Joshua Sisto, and Matthew (Kathleen) Sisto, and her great-grandchildren Matilda and Everett Pijanowski. Josie will be forever in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of love, as she loved so deeply and sincerely. She will be remembered as a shining example of strength, kindness, selflessness and compassion. A Catholic memorial mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Saint Bridget's Church in Bloomfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Josie's memory to Ontario County Humane Society (Happy Tails Animal Shelter) www.ontariocountyhumanesociety.org.
