Obituary of Richard C. Foringer
Richard C. Foringer, affectionately known as Rikk, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, at the age of 54, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 18, 1970, Rikk lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love for those around him.
Rikk is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah (Ellsworth) Foringer; his parents, Richard and Sharon Foringer; his sister, Marci (Scott) Will; and his cherished nephews, Luka, Bryson, and Merrick Will. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
At the age of 16, Rikk ventured to Cleveland to attend Diesel School, eventually establishing a successful career as a diesel mechanic. He proudly owned his own roadside service business for over 20 years. In his late 30s, Rikk decided to pursue higher education, earning an MBA, where he met his wife, Debby.
Rikk was deeply committed to giving back to his community, notably creating scholarships for single mothers pursuing nursing careers. It brought him immense joy to receive letters from scholarship recipients, witnessing the positive impact of his generosity.
Moreover, Rikk was an avid BBQ enthusiast, competing professionally and earning the distinction of being one of the top 25 pitmasters in the country for two consecutive years.
A lover of life, Rikk enjoyed spending time with his family, his dogs, and indulging in his passions for traveling, NASCAR, and football. In 2019, Rikk began a challenging journey with health issues, bravely facing each setback head-on. He was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2023 and actively pursued getting on the transplant list, a testament to his strength and resilience.
In honor of Rikk, we encourage everyone to consider becoming an organ donor, whether living or posthumously. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rikk's name can be made to the American Kidney Fund, the Gary Sinise Foundation, or any local animal rescue.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team at Strong Memorial Hospital's Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for their compassionate care, treating Rikk with the utmost respect and dignity during his final days. We would also like to thank Dr. Gross for his kindness and genuine concern for Rikk over the last few years, even when he wasn't his physician anymore.
Rikk's spirit will forever live on in the memories of those who loved him dearly.
