Wayne Savage

Obituary of Wayne R. Savage

Wayne Richard Savage,78, of Canandaigua, New York, passed away on January 14, 2025, at F.F. Thompson Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Wayne 'Bud' was born in Geneva to Richard and Minnie (Belcher) Savage on April 11, 1946. He attended school at Gorham Central School District and was drafted to the United States Army in 1966 where he served one tour of duty in Vietnam as a tank operator. After separating from the military in 1968 he married his childhood sweetheart, Jennifer, and started a family. He worked as a self-employed siding and window contractor and residential snowplow operator for over fifty years. He enjoyed watching wildlife, bowling, scenic drives, playing cards, and shooting the breeze with the boys at the diner. He was a hard worker and dedicated family man. A straight shooter with a silly sense of humor, Wayne was highly respected by his family and friends. Always down for a game of rummy with Jennifer or phase 10 with the grandkids. Wayne is survived by his wife Jennifer (Nielsen), daughters Sherry and Joni (Peter) Mofardin, grandchildren Paige, Ivan, and Alexandra Mofardin, siblings Kathy Chapman and Terry (Linda) Savage, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Richard and Minnie Savage and his brother-in-law Dane Chapman. Wayne requested there be no services upon his passing and will be privately honored by his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Nature Conservancy https://preserve.nature.org Or Disabled American Veterans https://help.dav.org The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at F.F. Thompson Hospital that lovingly cared for Wayne in his final days. To share a memory or express condolences online, please visit www.fullerfh.com.
