Obituary of Rose Sickles
Sickles, (Fuller) Rose Ann
Bloomfield: Passed away peacefully at the age of 73,
along with her cat of 16 years, Lucy.
Rose Ann was born April 17, 1940 at Oswego Hospital.
Rose was an active member in 4H. Rose had her own cows,
named Daisy and her calf's name was Daffy. She participated in
gardening, canning, sewing, and baking, with her sister Nancy
and her Mom Lida, the leader.
Rose attended schools in Tully, Kings Ferry, Mexico, and
graduated from Bloomfield Central in 1958.
Rose always enjoyed cooking/baking. Rose worked in the Food
Service field, like FW Woolworth and Holiday Inn. She worked in
Food Service when she lived in Holcomb, NY, Port St. Lucie, FL.,
Jensen Beach FL, and Canadaguia, NY.
While Rose was the manager of the Coffee Shop and Jr. Harvest
House for Woolworth, Co., Melvin (Cy) and Rose were married
7-2-1983. Their honeymoon was in Atlantic City, NJ. Rose and
Cy loved going fishing when they lived in Florida.
Even though Rose was quiet and kept to herself, she loved watching
old Black and White movies, John Wayne, Elvis Presley, Christmas
shows and Wizard of Oz. Rose also enjoyed playing BINGO, and
playing euchre. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Rose was one person that didn't like to show her feelings, but you knew
she loved her daughter, and her family. Going to the State Fair was a big thing
for the family. Family members from Rochester, Binghamton, Geneseo would
all meet in Holcomb and head to the NYS Fair, or Darien Lake, or Roseland
Park, just to name a few.
Family Picnics were a treasure. Any relatives, friends, family that could come
came. The backyard would have the BBQ chicken cooking, while salads were
being made in the house, kids playing in the barn or on the playground. When
it rained, we were all in the house all over the place.
Rose- daughter, sister, Mom, Aunt, friend, cousin, and the list goes on.........
We will truly miss you!
