Margaret (Margie) Gillis
Canandaigua- Margaret Gillis passed away on August 29, 2014 at the age of 88.
Margie was born in Bronxville, New York but grew up in Nova Scotia where she was an alumna of Mt. St. Bernard School. She was a very creative person who loved decorating, knitting, and spending her summers at her cottage in her hometown, Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Margie was the loving wife of David Gillis Sr., together they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on April 30, 2014.
She is also survived by her brother, Joe MacLellan; sister, Loretta Baker; her four children, Kevin (Andrea) Gillis, Sandra Hyde, Laurie (Tom) Marino, David (Lorelei) Gillis Jr.; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Steve), Eddie (Mirissa), Megan, John (Tanya), Dustin, Courtney, Cameron and Ryan; Four great-grandchildren, Robbie, Jayden, Kyle and Carter.
She was predeceased by her sister, Joan Gilfoy; niece, Denice ONeill; and great-grandson, Alexander Thomas Casey.
Margie will be greatly missed by her family and friends whom she loved spending time with.
A 10 a.m. memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, September 2, at St. Marys Church, 95 N. Main St. Canandaigua. Arrangements are under the care of Fuller Funeral Home, Inc.
