Obituary of Josephine Figenscher

Josephine L. Figenscher 1918 – 2010 Canandaigua NY Josephine Figenscher of Gorham St. passed away April 21, 2010 at FF Thompson Hospital, She was 91. The wife of the late Raymond Figenscher, she born in Olean, NY May 6, 1918. She was a graduate of Olean High School and also the Bradford School of Nursing. Josephine enlisted in the Army in 1942 as an Army nurse serving in Africa, Italy & France. After leaving the Army she graduated from the University of Rochester where she received her Bachelor's degree in science & liberal arts. She was employed by Thompson Hospital as the director of nursing and also worked at the VA Hospital in Canandaigua where she was nursing supervisor retiring in 1971. Josephine was a member of St. Mary’s Church. She is survived by nieces Jane Aikey and Brenda Jones both of Canandaigua, and several other nieces & nephews. She predeceased by a sister Mildred Hanby and a brother James Reading. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Wed. April 28, 2010 at 12 noon at Woodlawn Cemetery Canandaigua NY.
