Dear Karen, Sherry & Mrs. B., Even though car problems kept me from getting up to Canandaigua today, I have been holding you all in my thoughts and heart all day long. My memories of my favorite family 'up the hill' on Highland Terrace later moved to N. Main: making melted crayon candles and homemade mints with Mrs. B., getting fitted for matching piano concert dresses with crinolines made by Nanny, and just plain being in awe of all the things of wood and leather that Mr. B. made for the house--could fill lots more pages than there is room here for. Mrs. B., I will always smile at the memory of seeing you and Mr. B. in the hall of Rosewood at Thompson Nursing Home, you and your dog, visiting the patients while my Mom was still alive. Nor will I ever forget the way Mr. B. cared for those horses on the merry-go-round at Roseland Park. You two have been such a great team for so long, you've set the 'gold standard' for the rest of us. Loving thoughts and prayers, beyond a doubt, are surrounding you and Karen and Sherry right now, including my own. With Long Distance Hugs, Janet Veale PS Karen, I can't tell you how bummed I am not to be able to drive there today and be with you all and see your gorgeous flower arrangements. You were so there for me when my Mom passed, and here I am grounded. Still, with all the force my spirit can muster, I am beaming love and healing and support over through time and space, to join everyone else who knows and loves your family, at this important time.

My deepest sympathy to Karen, Sherry and the rest of the family. "Uncle Bart" as we called him in Boy Scout Troop 29, was a very warm and caring man. He always had a smile on his face. Some of my greatest memories were of him as one of our Boy Scout leaders. These memories will live forever.

Uncle Bart, along with my dad, were two of the major mentors in my life growing up as a boy scout. I'll never forget the winter night, camping in the woods, when I was literally freezing in my tent. Uncle Bart came and got me and took me to a campfire. I thought I was just going to sit there and get warm, but Uncle Bart had other ideas. He had me chopping wood for a few hours which got me much warmer than some simple fire. He stayed up all night with several of us, which resulted in 1) all of us being as warm as we could be and 2) plenty of wood for Uncle Bart's fire. There's so much he taught me about the outdoors, leatherwork, and how to be a man. His home was always open to us (which I always took advantage of since I had a crush on Karen). I know, right now, Uncle Bart is teaching kids in heaven how to make tripod stools out of leather. He'll be greatly missed.

I have great memories of "Uncle Dick" and my late father as asst. scoutmasters when I was a member of Troop 29 at the Methodist Church. Unfortunately, I am still in Los Angeles, and won't be returning to the Canandaigua area until March 27th. "Uncle Bart" was one of the scoutmasters at my Boy Scout Troop #29. I remember him as being firm, but fair, and devoted to developing good citizens. My condolences to Karen and other relatives.
